Olympus IX71 Inverted Microscope for Micromanipulation

Inverted Microscope Features

As part of the new IX2 series, the IX71 inverted research microscope is designed to accommodate a wide range of advanced research techniques. The IX71's modular frame and optical design provides 9 access ports for multiple input or output devices. Up to four ports can have simultaneous access to a primary image. The IX71 inverted microscope system can easily accommodate multi-wave length, advanced fluorescence techniques.

Inverted Microscope Highlights Olympus IX 71 Inverted Microscope

The IX71 inverted microscope begins with a unique two-tiered, V-shape optical design that provides tremendous versatility and bright images with minimal reflections or frame modifications.

The Olympus two-tiered optical system creates access to an upper and lower rear port without modifying the stage or fluorescence ray path. Rear ports facilitate the mounting of cameras and laser scan heads while keeping the sides of the microscope free for additional equipment.

Newly developed for the IX2 inverted microscopes is a dual camera adapter for the left side port that permits two-camera access to a primary image. The adapter also accepts a dichromatic mirror for spectral separation between cameras.

Frame stability has been improved by utilizing an external power supply to reduce heat generation and thermal expansion. The frame is computer designed and constructed of cast ADC-12 aluminum for improved rigidity and stability. A redesigned nosepiece focus assembly results in greater stability over prolonged observations.

.All Microscope controls are ergonomically placed and vibration-free in operation. Improved condensers have adjustable click stops. New DIC condenser with optional water immersion lens provides 3.7mm of working distance with a 0.9 NA and includes a 40° access angle that is excellent for patch clamp electrodes.

Straight or L-Shaped fluorescence illuminators have high UV transmission at 340nm and combine with the six-position filter cube turret to provide outstanding fluorescence brightness and system flexibility.

  • Exclusive dual condenser 100W illumination column permits the attachment of two condensers with the ability to quickly switch between them
  • 100W single condenser column has increased condenser travel for newly designed relief contrast and motorized condensers
  • A low cost 6V/30W illuminator is also available
Optical Features and Optical Efficiency
  • Frame has a two-tiered optical design and 9 input/output ports for outstanding system flexibility.

  • Six-position fluorescence filter turret with adjustable click-stops features illuminated position indicators for filter identification in subdued light

  • New Relief Contrast condenser and objectives provide contrast and 3-D illumination effects (similar to DIC) in plastic vessels
  • Long working distance Plan Fluorite Phase Contrast objectives (LCPLFL-PH) for culture chambers and multi well plates
  • Super Long Working Distance objective SLCPLFL 40x/0.55 with 6.4mm of working distance adjusts for 0.0mm to 2.8mm cover glass or dish thickness
  • LUCPLFL objectives feature a focus-free correction collar design that maintains objective focus during adjustments for ease of use
  • Universal Apochromats (U-APO) achieve excellent transmission efficiency for fluorescence observation and measurement
  • Plan Apochromats (PLAPO), such as the PL APO 60x/1.4 have high numerical apertures and field flatness correction for highly resolved, clear images.
  • Improved Total Internal Reflection Microscopy (TIRFM) illuminator provides easy laser set up and adjustment
  • TIRFM objectives offer high numerical apertures critical for proper laser alignment and specimen illumination: 100x APO/1.65 NA has the highest numerical aperture available, 60x/1.45 NA uses standard oil and cover slips
  • The high-resolution PL APO 60x W/1.2 NA 'PSF' objective has a perfectly symmetrical point spread function for photon reassignment microscopy. Water immersion design reduces the spherical aberration normally introduced when focusing into live cells

Inverted Microscope Accessories

  • New DIC Condenser with optional water immersion front lens: Offers 0.9 NA, 3.7mm working distance with 40° access angle for patch clamping electrodes
  • Dual Camera Adapter: Attaches to the left side port and provides two-camera access to a primary image. Adapter also accepts dichromatic beam splitters for simultaneous imaging
  • Optional Bottom Port: Allows imaging devices to be attached in line with the optical axis of the objective producing the most efficient signal possible
  • Lower Rear Port: Combined with the L-Shaped illuminator accepts the FluoView 500 laser scanning confocal keeping the sides of the microscope free for additional equipment

  • Dual Viewing Attachment: For instruction/discussion. Includes arrow pointer with joystick control to aid communication. Observation positions are separated by 25"
